Martin Formgren strives in his artistic practice to contextualize his work discursively within a historical field of painting. The starting point for his paintings are often collages made of digital prints and found imagery wich he combines with painterly abstraction. In the presentation of his work Formgren often shows thematic series of paintings or installations with a conceptual framework. Formgren holds a MFA from Valand Academy and has also studied at the Akademie der bildenden Künste in Vienna. His work has been exhibited in Sweden and abroad.
