Alessio Cannizzo (b. 1993) is an Italian artist based in Berlin, currently studying at Weissensee Kunsthochschule Berlin. He maintains a studio in Berlin, which is part of the Le Mouton Noir Group.
Cannizzo's practice explores the ephemeral traces left by movement, viewing them not merely as imprints in space and time but as manifestations of intention and experience. His work investigates the metaphysical dimensions of movement, capturing its presence beyond the visible.
Movement, a fundamental aspect of existence, operates across all scales—from atomic interactions to cosmic phenomena. Through material experimentation, Cannizzo seeks to understand and express its dynamic form.
With a background in performance art, where movement is choreographed yet physically dissipates in space, Cannizzo translates performative gestures into tangible artistic expressions. By engaging directly with materials, he preserves the traces of movement within the artwork itself, making the ephemeral visible and enduring.
