Wiedergutmachung is a series of photographs that examines intergenerational trauma. Through this series I'm trying to unravel the threads of my family history.
The work follows in the footsteps of my grandparents, who were born Jewish in a part of Slovakia that now belongs to present-day Ukraine.

By photographically re-tracing the route of my grandparents took, from their place of birth to France, the place they decided to settle in; I am conducting an investigation to try to and better understand what has remained hidden, and what they left aside on the road to exile. "Wiedergutmachung", which literally translates to "making good again", is also the name of the compensatory aid granted to my grandparents in 1963 by the German authorities after the war.
