In her mostly large-format oil paintings, Laura Mercedes Arndt deals with an idea of worship, the motifs and gestures of the figures are reminiscent of religious images or paintings of socialist realism.
Though it is a reflection and deconstruction of these aesthetics that remain figures ultimately aimless and ambivalent in their surroundings, they have no clear mission.
It is a personal examination of her own upbringing in the provinces, a seemingly rigid environment, an apparently empty landscape.
