In the photographic work "Polunytsya", the artist Sascha Levin, in cooperation with Florian Gatzweiler, accompanied young Ukrainian people who are currently living in the small Polish town of Slubice due to the war.

At lunch time almost every day, the run-down basketball court near the city centre fills up with the same faces. Someone pulls a bluetooth box out of their pocket, cigarettes are smoked and cheap soft drinks are drunk. While the same basketball games are being played, one notices despite the relaxed atmosphere, the constant worries and fears of these young people.

The desire to escape these dark thoughts is strong and thus the friendships among each other are one of the few distractions. Caught in this state of limbo, they try to support each other and to simply forget everything for a short moment.
