Lynn Gerstmair’s work is an attempt to capture what cannot be captured, an observation of the passage of time, a poetic embrace of the ephemeral. In her conceptually driven artistic practice, she combines photography, textiles, prose and installative elements to create intimate artworks that dwell on the impermanence of being. The coexistence between humans and animals is a central theme of her installations. Telling stories that are both critical as they are sentimental, animals often become protagonists in her art.

The work "Awaken to silver-green light" is a precise translation of a photographic image into a hand-woven tapestry and represents a kind of modern vanitas still life. The other is a slide projection in endless repetition portraying a camouflaged horse: Lucky.
